Today, July 4, 2025, Siena hosted an important event with the official presentation of Tommaso Bellazzini as the new head coach of the first team, ahead of the 2024-2025 Serie D season. In the press conference, Bellazzini shared his vision, opening a new chapter for the bianconeri club.
The new head coach was introduced by Sporting Director Simone Guerri, who picked up the thread from the previous season: 'We’re starting again from the season that just ended, which left a bitter taste, and we’re working to turn around a slightly negative atmosphere in order to rebuild a sense of unity between the sporting side and our fans. I’m confident that only in this way can we achieve great results.” Before handing over to the new coach, the director referred to this as a 'Year Zero— a reconstruction phase strongly desired by the club in what he described as their first real transfer market: “The kind of reconstruction reconstruction I’ve been personally tasked with is on the sporting side. I was looking for a profile to help us build for the future. The process was fairly long, but the ownership stood by me throughout, and I thank them for that. I was asked to find someone who could bring a more attacking, proactive style of football. We needed a modern coach and, after narrowing down the list, we eventually chose Tommaso Bellazzini. I’m extremely happy, because he perfectly represents what the club was looking for”.
With visible emotion, Bellazzini took the floor and confirmed the enthusiasm with which he is approaching this new role: “I’m very proud to be part of this historic club and to represent the legacy of this institution. I’m excited to take on this thrilling new challenge.” Responding to questions from journalists, the coach expressed full alignment with what Director Guerri had previously stated: “There’s a lot of work ahead, but that doesn’t scare me. Everything must be done with great care and precision to minimize mistakes. That said, I’m actually glad to start from what we’re calling ‘Year Zero,’ because it marks a very clear new beginning.”
The shared vision and the programme for this new sporting year are rooted in the idea of sustainable football. The club's intent, embraced by all, is to build a young squad. As Director Guerri pointed out, this is a credit to the club, as it shows a clear desire for long-term commitment. Regular and meaningful communication with the club, the new coach added, will be key to staying aligned on a common path.
Then come the objectives: “We want to improve on last season’s results, but above all, we aim to build a competitive team. That’s what the club has asked of us. And we won’t set any limits for ourselves.”
Coach Bellazzini also shared his personal expectations: “I expect to see a team that is always competitive and has a clear identity on every pitch — the best version of itself. That’s what I want to see this year.”
Before closing his remarks, the new Siena coach addressed the fans, expressing his hope for their support, which he sees as essential: “As the director said earlier, it’s truly by staying united that great things can be achieved.”
